Ilana Moualem
Ilana Moualem was born and raised in Israel, married and a mother of three.
During her 15 year stay in Africa, she mastered the art of porcelain painting and held three exhibitions of her creations.
After returning to Israel in 1995, she completed the History of Art and the Basics of Drawing and Painting in the Avni Institute of the Arts, Yafo Tel-Aviv.
Ilana paints in many different techniques, reinventing herself to match the clean white porcelain piece she chooses from the best and exclusive factories (Limoges, Rosenthal, Keiser). The paintings are gently drawn by hand over glaze with special colors, and are fired in high temperatures in a special kiln – providing long lasting stability. 22-karat-gold silver or platen decors complete the creation.
Ilana selects pieces that arouse her imagination, spark her interest and creativity; she envisions the décor that will best suit the piece and only then sets to paint it with her unique skill and talent. She paints on dining sets, but also on porcelain art objects and sculptures.
Ilana is a member of the International Union of Decorative Drawing on Porcelain based in Italy, and of the British Union of Porcelain Arts. She participated in annual conventions, presented her work and won prizes –
A vase she decorated won a prize awarded by the Italian Porcelain Union in Como Convention of May 2002, and was displayed in a Milano museum;
and an abstract vase she decorated won the “Grand Azzuro Award” for creativity.
